Research Confirms: Injecting Gold in Eyes can cure Blindness

As the technology evolves it's making great tides in creating reality better for the ones struggling with their vision

As the world is moving towards advancement, researchers have found another potential of gold nanoparticles in aiding the sight of individuals who are dealing with definite types of blindness. This experimental approach is especially promising for individuals dealing with degenerative eye conditions such as macular degeneration and retinal pigmentosa, which, with time, affects the retina’s light-sensitive cells harmfully.

The technique involves literally injecting nanoparticles of gold directly into the retina. Upon being exposed to a specific wavelength of light, the particles emit mild heat, therefore stimulating activity in the healthy cells that are present. It is expected that this process could allow gold particles to relay information to the brain, hence mimicking the way natural vision works.

While other methods require surgery and genetic intervention.
This treatment’s minimally invasive nature makes it preferable and less time-consuming. When experimented on animals, they responded to visual stimuli without any severe side effects from the gold in their retinal tissue.

Scientists are considering combining this therapy with wearable technology. They plan to combine special goggles fitted with infrared lasers with the gold particles to enhance vision in real-time.

Despite the research being in its Early stages, it holds enormous potential. If done the right way, it could possibly revolutionize ophthalmology in various aspects.

While it’s too early to call it a cure, gold-based retinal therapy is shaping up to be one of the most promising developments in vision science, bringing the desire of individuals to have a better vision closer to reality.
